This is a summary of the details of Helsinki's main International Airport.

TRANSFER BETWEEN TERMINALS:

The International and Domestic terminals are only 250m (274 yards) apart and are linked by an internal pedestrian connection.

INFORMATION AND HELP DESKS:

Information desks (tel: (0)200 4636) are available on the Departures and Arrivals floors (open 24 hours a day) in the International Terminal, and on the Arrivals floor of the Domestic Terminal, open 0600-2000.

AIRPORT FACILITIES: Money and communications:

The airport has a Nordea Bank on the ground floor of the International Terminal and a 24-hour Leonia bank in Arrivals hall 2. There are bureau de change facilities in the International Terminal, both in the gate area and the public area. Eating and drinking: There are plenty of restaurants, cafés and bars in both terminals. Shopping: There are numerous shops in the gate area of the International Terminal. In the non-Schengen area, there is one duty-free shop for departing passengers and one duty-free shop for arriving passengers. There is also a shop in the transit area of the Domestic Terminal and a grocery shop on the service floor of the International Terminal. Other facilities: A pharmacy and travel agencies are located on the service floor of the International Terminal.

DISABLED FACILITIES:

The airport has lift access to all floors and wheelchair-accessible toilets. Passengers are advised to contact their airline for further assistance.

CONFERENCE AND BUSINESS FACILITIES:

The airport's Congress Centre in the International Terminal offers nine meeting and conference rooms with full audiovisual equipment and catering (tel: (0)9 818 3737). VIP Centre has five VIP lounges for smaller meetings (tel: (0)9 8277 3117; fax: (0)9 8277 3290). There is full audio-visual equipment as well as printing, photocopying and fax services. Catering services are available on request.

CAR HIRE:

Car hire companies include Avis, Budget and Hertz. Car hire desks are located in the International Terminal.

CAR PARKING:

Indoor car parks are available near both terminals. P1 and P2 are close to the International Terminal and P3 is close to the Domestic Terminal. Car park P5 serves both International and Domestic passengers. Outdoor car park P4 is located near the Domestic Terminal. Car park service points are located on the service floor of the International Terminal, open 24 hours, and on the Arrivals floor in the Domestic Terminal, open 1500-0100.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:

From Helsinki city centre, drive north along Tuusula road (Hwy-45) and follow signs for the airport. From the West and Espoo, drive east on Kehä III (Hwy-E18 or Hwy-50) and follow signs for the airport. From the east, drive West on Kehä III (Hwy-E18 or Hwy-50) and follow signs for the airport.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Taxi:

Taxi ranks are located in front of both terminals; taxi companies include Airport Taxi Yellow Line and Suomen Airport Taxi. Bus: Bus stops are located in front of both terminals. Timetable information is available in all Arrivals halls. Public buses to Helsinki city centre depart every 10-30 minutes between 0600-0100. The Finnair bus runs to the city centre every 15-20 minutes from 0545-0110 daily.
